Splendours of Mesopotamia

Splendors of Mesopotamia marks a significant milestone in the journey towards the realization of the Abu Dhabi’s Cultural vision, being the first in a series of exhibitions preparing the way for the opening of the Zayed National Museum in the Saadiyat Cultural District.

The exhibition affords a tantalizing glimpse of the likely contents of the Zayed National Museum, whose galleries will each illustrate a different value or principle highly prized by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to whom the museum is dedicated.

Hypsos ME in Dubai has executed the exhibition fit-out for ‘Splendours of Mesopotamia’ including project management, interior, graphics, lighting and interactive exhibit display.

At the Manarat Al Saadiyat on Saadiyat Island, the exhibition ‘Splendours of Mesopotamia’ opened its doors.  The exhibition invites visitors to trace steps back to the beginning of civilisation.

The lead Curator for this exhibition is Dr Paul Collins, Lead Curator, Zayed National Museum (ZNM) Project, The British Museum. The exhibition is organised by the Tourism, Development and Investment Company (TDIC), and held under the patronage of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

“That is what is so fascinating about this exhibition. It allows visitors to literally go back to the very beginning of civilisation, the first writings, the first complex societies, the first cities and provide them with an opportunity to see the connection to their modern lives,” Dr Paul Collins explained.
